Moment In Time 2024

2024 Moment in Time Gala BIGGER and BETTER! Event celebrated 70 Years, Dozens of Chaplains, Hundreds of Volunteers, and Thousands of Youth Served. Proceeds go toward funding Chaplains and Programming for Children in St. Louis’ Juvenile Justice System.

Nearly 200 friends and supporters of Episcopal City Mission showed up to this year’s Moment in Time Gala and Auction on Thursday, October 17. Moment in Time is our largest fundraiser to support chaplains and programs for children in St. Louis’ Juvenile Justice System. Guests included staff from both of St. Louis’ juvenile detention centers; members and clergy from Episcopal congregations in the St. Louis area; ECM Chaplains, staff and Board members. Some of our guests who were invited by others knew very little about ECM; everyone learned something and left even more inspired to partner with ECM in the impactful work we do with the children we serve.

The LiUNA Event Center in Sunset Hills provided an awe-inspiring backdrop for this year’s theme: “Creating Possibilities, Illuminating Futures.” Rene Knott, an Anchor/Reporter with KSDK 5 News, kept things light and entertaining as our celebrity Auctioneer. He is known for bringing out the generosity of guests like ours to make Chaplains’ Champion donations and bid on exciting items – including breakfast with Bishop Deon Johnson. Thank you Alana Green, from Community Development Solutions, for hanging in there to be the winning bidder! Congratulations also goes out to MIT raffle winners: Carol Berger, recipient of the Victorian Dollhouse and Rev. Valerie E Patton, recipient of the 6 nights/7 days – Adventure to any one of the following destinations: Myrtle Beach, Branson, Panama City, Nashville, Phoenix, Flagstaff, or Steamboat Springs.

One of the highlights was bestowing our ECM Valor Award on Ted Drewes Frozen Custard. For decades one supporter has remained the same - Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.  ECM can rely on Ted Drewes to donate their sweet treats for our kids monthly birthday socials. Accepting the award was Ted Drewes co-owner, Travis Dillon. Another highlight was the enlightening panel discussion that included The Rt. Rev. Deon K. Johnson as moderator. The panelist included an ECM chaplain and staff from both St. Louis City and County Juvenile Detention Centers. Each with a personal story about how important our work is, for the children we serve in their time of crisis. Guests at the gala came away with the desire to become more involved, as well as a deeper understanding of the impact ECM has on the children by helping them gain a new perspective and outlook about themselves, others, and their future.

This year’s Moment in Time was successful in every way, thanks to the generosity of our supporters and everyone who attended. Our guests enjoyed a lovely evening, and we were able to raise thousands of dollars to fund our mission to provide support, hope, and healing to children in St. Louis’ juvenile justice system.

If you couldn’t attend the gala and would like to add to the success of our event, please don’t hesitate to donate online at www.ecitymission.org or by mailing a check, made payable to Episcopal City Mission, at 1210 Locust Street, Suite 306, St. Louis, MO 63103
